Today we’d like to introduce you to Harry and Vicki Nieto.
Harry and Vicki, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Web design started out as more of hobby than anything else for us. I entered the U.S. Air Force in 1995 which led Vicki and I away from everything we knew here in our hometown of Sugar Land, TX. Newlyweds at the time and moving farther away from family than ever before seemed like a good opportunity to build our own personal webpage to blog and post photos of our adventures for our family back in Houston to see. In those first few years we really got a true understanding on how to setup a web page and how to do it successfully. We had our challenges for sure but overcame each one and got better and better. By 1999, and although still committed to the USAF for another 5 years, we wanted an additional stream of revenue and started our first web design company. We have helped a variety of industries over the years to include, radio stations, rental homes, home services, healthcare services and B2B just to name a few. Fast forward almost 20 years later and our experiences have molded us into what we are today and our knowledge in helping businesses in a personable and professional way are beyond compare. We have come to realize that businesses do not just need a website, they need a thorough marketing strategy and a commanding web presence that shows their customers they are serious about what they do.
After 22 years of marriage we are not only a perfect match for each other in life, we are a powerhouse in their web and marketing business. I have an art degree in design and vast knowledge of web development. Vicki has a BBA Management Information Systems from University of Alaska Anchorage, as well PMP certified and has a passion for business development. Together we bring over 30 years’ experience in not only making your brand and marketing initiatives stand out but we understand every challenge a small business goes through to succeed in the online marketing arena.
Our personal life is much different than the IT and Design Gurus we are in the office. We love the outdoors to include hunting, fishing and camping. We have 2 amazing boys Joshua (17) and Sean (13) that make us laugh every day. Our evenings are usually spent on our beautiful patio looking out onto our 2.5 acres watching our chickens and loving on our dogs (while talking about our next marketing process of course). We love football and spending time with friends and family.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the biggest challenges for us is getting business owners to see the true value and growth building potential that their brand, purposeful design and online reputation have on their business. They have been brain-washed that all they need is a site builder from Godaddy, WIX or 1&1 and they are an expert in 5 minutes. I truly feel that this is one of the main reasons some businesses do not generate the leads they need to survive. From a potential clients perspective a website is an extension of your business. If it looks like your brother-in-law put it together in his spare time or you are just barely getting by with a DIY solution, that sort of half-baked website speaks volumes about your business (whether it is true or not) and potential customers will immediately lose trust and are more than willing to keep on searching for someone they feel comfortable with.
We work hard to educate first, review a company’s processes, what are they doing (or not doing), what is working and what could or should be implemented to move their business in the right direction. There is not a single industry that we have researched that doesn’t have over 1000 monthly local searches for what they do, that alone is a great reason to invest in their online marketing efforts.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nieto Creative – what should we know?
We cater to companies that are not large enough to afford a dedicated person or team of marketing experts. Although, regardless of size, there is not one industry or company that wouldn’t benefit from a solid brand and marketing strategy. Nieto Creative brings that creativity and marketing to our clients. Our 3 keys to success are BE FOUND, BE PROFESSIONAL, BE RECOMMENDED. That means you have to be proactive with your search engine optimization for search engines like Google to rank you. Your site has to make visitors want to stick around and you have to have a review/ratings process in place so you are generating a steady flow of positive reviews. 96% of potential customers read reviews before selecting a company, it plays a key factor in the buying decision.
Our suite of services are branding, web development, print design, email marketing and online reputation management (ORM). We feel that there is not one service that is more important than another when it comes to how people view your online presence. Your business is being judged every time a new customer looks for your service. People need to be able to find you online, see that you have to have a prestigious reputation that makes you stand out from your competition, and have a professional website that provides a lot of good information. We manage the whole package.
We are most proud of our business model. We are professional and knowledgeable enough to take on any challenge and succeed, but personable enough to make you feel like you are working with a partner in your company rather than just a number at an agency. Of course, our ability to get businesses on the first page of Google isn’t a bad accolade either.
